The postpartum period is generally thought of as all rainbows and cupcakes. You have a beautiful bouncing baby, then you head home to start your new family life loving every moment of it. But what if that image of perfection turns out to be a sorely mistaken reality? What if suddenly you go from expecting a movie image life to dealing with thoughts such as drowning your baby and it will all be over? Or if I just take all these pills I can end this? North America is severely lacking in it's resources to diagnose, treat and support new moms, ultimately leading to many women slipping through the cracks and suffering. Many times we tend to hear about postpartum depression is in the news when a mom has attempted or was successful at harming or killing herself and her children.
